Stomach Flu (Gastroenteritis)

March 26, 2009

I don’t really know how this has to do with technology, but I wanted to inform my readers that since 3 AM today, I have been having a bad case of the stomach flu. I should be in bed resting, but the wake up calls that my stomach gives my body is denying me of any continued rest. I even tried popping in a few sleeping pills, but I’ve thrown those up as well. I apologize for any gruesome content.

I wish that technology would somehow make a pill that would make this go away ASAP

I’m sitting here feeling dehydrated even after I drink a lot of water, you can thank vomitting for that. Basically the stomach flu/gastroenteritis is a viral infection that causes massive vomitting and diarrhea (one may happen more than the other). It’s been a LONG while since I’ve had the stomach flu, but everytime I get it, its HELL.

The only real treatment for the stomach flu begins at home. You should keep yourself hydrated as water loss may and will become severe. Dehydration is no joke and should not be taken lightly. Rest is needed, but trust it is hard to rest when your stomach is playing mind games with you. Perhaps that is why I’m blogging right now. Your physician should tell you what to drink. I’ve been told gatorade is the best solution and still believe it is. I believe I lost 5 lbs when I was infected with the stomach flu for a 24 hour period. The crazy amounts of vomitting until I saw blood was not a good sign.

With the growth in technology, the only vaccine available for the stomach flu is a licensed rotavirus vaccine that protects against severe diarrhea from rotavirus infection in infants and children. I understand that viruses need to run their course, but I wish there would be something to stop it ASAP.

Nintendo DSi Camera Seems Awesome

March 26, 2009

Unlike the Nintendo DS/DS Lite, the DSi offers a few new amazing features, one of which is the camera. At first I was skeptical about the DSi coming with the camera, but it actually looks promising and very clear. I like the fact that you can customize each picture by drawing on it. Maybe I will get one when it comes out!

GlideCycle for the Injured and Disabled

March 26, 2009

Now this is something I truly am glad that was invented. The GlideCycle offers injured or disabled person’s a non-impact form of exercise. Basically you still use your legs, but you don’t have to support your body weight. I know how hard it is for the injured or disable people to exercise, so I think this is a great invention for them to get out and roam around. Priced at $1649, this is something that is definitely worth every penny. Check out the video for the inspiration!

I believe I can Fly Headphones?

March 26, 2009

“I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky.” The creator of these crazy looking headphones wanted to make a pair that tied in with R. Kelly’s “I believe I can fly.” These were made for a competition. Although the detail on these are awesome and I think it’s a great concept, anyone caught dead rocking these would definitely turn necks…not in a good way. Sure there are some few who will want to purchase a pair for laughs and giggles, but I would not wear one of these. With all the crazy things being produced, who knows, you might end up seeing a pair on the market sometime soon!

Awesome Looking USB Drives

March 26, 2009

There are plenty of USB drives out there, bt not many that resemble something creative. My favorite is the iPod especially, something cute but yet does the job just right. For the Star Wars nerds, you got the R2D2 USB Storage, what else can you ask for?
